We visited Zach at the ER today. He is better and recovering. Both chest tubes are out and while still woozy, he knows his fam.

He will probably come home tomorrow with a $17,000-$20,000 bill.

it's not just that we rejected smart glasses 5-10 years ago, it's that the last attempt to inject them into our lives by google made this obvious: attaching a recording device to your body without the specific context of like skateboarding or motocross or w/e enables pvp globally

the vet palpating Yuki's tummy: ok I'm glad shes letting me do this b/c her abdomen and legs are really well built.

*moments later trying to give Yuki an oral vaccine*

Yuki is down 4 pounds (which is good) which also let the vet feel what I have asserted in the past that while she may have been a bit overweight but its mostly muscle

ayeeeee we got there! Yuki is super healthy and all vaxxed up and clear to start on simperica again but that is a different funding hurdle.

Yuki is a very anxious baby but shes good about it in that she just hides.

with prints and stickers that is fine but for anything that requires physical production by the artist (ceramics, woosworking, painting, etc) its unsustainable

that means artists with items at a small store and an online shop cannot have different prices, so either you raise your personal shop price and get lower # of sales or you take what is effectively a loss to have your goods in a "real" store and hope folks find their way to your website

something i think "go sell your wares at local shops and support other small business" people dont understand, or just glaze over is that brick and mortar shops take %50+ of the sale price and often require that items they sell cannot be sold elsewhere (including online) for less than them

This right here. I love my art friends and art community, but I'm also trying to run a business as a freelancer/selling products and I need the reach! Every time we scatter to different platforms it's a little harder to exist as a working artist whose primary visibility is only online.

As much as folks might not want to believe it, artists who sell their work cannot survive exclusively on platforms that cater to primarily other artists. The Circulating The Same Five Dollars™️ model can't feed us or pay bills for long. We need places where we can be seen and discovered.
