Use bikes to do what needs to be done as much as possible (groceries, kid to school, library, get Christmas trees etc.). PhD in Astronomy some years ago. Enjoy computer programming as a hobby and for work. Help researchers use computer clusters and cloud.
one figure mentioned recently by the councilors, is that road maintenance over the period we have been constructing, form scratch new bike infrastructure, is $900M. That's just the maintenance of roads, compared to 90M for new bike lanes from scratch, they are dirt cheap.

Isn't there something about Mayor's lying? I am pretty sure Andy has already been investigated for spreading misinformation.. and yet.. he continues.

Careful...a lot of people actually believe that shit... For example our province is looking to build two new "natural" gas power plants...just stupid.

I visited Copenhagen once it was just around freezing and it was raining or maybe snowing somewhere in between.

My point being Amsterdam didn't have loads of cyclist before there was infrastructure to make them feel safe and protected from cars. Most people drive there like they do here. Just like Amsterdam we can build bike lanes if we choose to.

The video says 100 MW.. also seems to be separate from the Renewall project in Mersey river which is around the same size ish, ~150MW

"nor do they provide the quick response required to support the significant build-out of ... renewable resources." I am assuming they are talking about the need for momentum of large spinning turbines to stabilize the grid. However, their are clean alternatives now.

How inverters can stabilize a renewables-heavy grid
Daniel Duckwitz and Catarina Augusto explain how we can run stable electricity grids on inverter-based clean energy resources.

biking around the peninsula this morning I was like.. wow.. traffic is pretty good.. I guess that's cause the cars can't get there.

Now that ebikes are available hills don't matter so nearly as much.

I bike year round weather isn't the problem. The problem is having safe places to bike away from fast moving cars. If we build the infrastructure people will bike. Fun fact, Amsterdam wasn't Amsterdam until the 70s when they built bike infrastructure.

A step backward.

There, sent mine in. I had intended to write very little, but ended up adding a whole paragraph in addition to your email I copied+pasted in.

well.. I suppose I should copy+paste Sarah's letter to add my voice to the choir. I might preface it with.. it is getting tiring to have to keep preventing bad ideas. I am really getting tired. Please, stop being stupid.

Didn't council have a room full of people telling them basically these things at the public meeting? Seems like maybe they aren't listening.
