#BikeHFX I was biking the south park bike lane yesterday, it was fully blocked by a delivery truck. I have a picture of the truck with license clearly sitting in the lane. Thinking about reporting it to the delivery company. Is this something useful to do, should I report somewhere else?

Just biked through Allen St. up to Oxford. Saw some diagonal diverter shaped markings on the pavement. I think I heard that this will be tactical. Hope that doesn't mean it will be removed for snow clearing around... now-ish like we have been doing with flex posts and on-street bike parking?

Absolutely!
If a member of Canadian parliament meets with a fossil fuel lobbyist they should be required to meet with a renewable energy lobbyist for the same amount of time

The most recent What on Earth podcast describes how Canada's federal gov. is bowing to the oil and gas industry and allowing and helping to fund the destruction of our climate. I am so disappointed in our country. They don't need PP anymore now that the have Carney.:

US politicians wonder why Canadian's don't want to come to the US nearly as much as before. More than the 51st state talk, more than tariffs, more than blaming us for illegal drugs, we are simply scared to.
If I'm your biggest problem right now you can get fucked 👍

They blame people for feeding them, but the fox was killed by a car. I see so much road kill along highways. Were all those animals fed by humans? I saw a fox dead in the road, it reminded me of my beloved dog in the back seat of my car, and I imagined how sad I would be if she was killed by a car.

Maybe we should start seriously figuring out how we can avoid driving as much as possible. We are killing children and destroying the life support system for all future generations. Perhaps maybe we can drive less?
Glad to see new recommendations from the Child Death Review Committee regarding swimming pools, but there’s nothing new in there that addresses the biggest cause of accidental deaths in the studied age group (1-24)

While listening to "The Black Thread" via Drilled about Norway's oil and gas narratives, I think gee, I have heard this exact narrative before here in Canada. But our oil and gas is more environmentally friendly than other countries, with lower emissions.

Its getting to be that time of year again, 311 calls about snow clearing.
This is a major bus stop/future BRT bus stop 3 or 4 days after a storm last February. That’s the norm on Herring Cove Road. People will not make the switch from driving to transit if they’re going to be subjected to this.

If we can't peacefully protest, do we have a democracy?
Want to know something truly haunting? Being deported for nonviolent climate activism. That's what happened to 24-year-old Zain Haq in January.

This is unjust and unacceptable.

The Carney Government has weakened requirements for industry to cut emissions, particularly the oil and gas sector, the most important place we need to cut emissions. While providing more subsidies for LNG. Canada is not serious about the climate crisis. www.cbc.ca/news/politic...

If you live in a major city, your mayor is almost certainly aware of @annehidalgo.bsky.social's record.

If they're deciding not to follow her lead, that decision is a deliberate one.
Over 800km of new bike paths, pedestrian zones, school streets, 200,000 new trees, a 40% reduction in traffic, a 40% reduction in emissions, and a plan for a carbon neutral Paris by 2050. There is nothing stopping other city leaders from being this bold.
“One of Hidalgo’s most transformative achievements has been her push to reduce car dominance in Paris, a city historically shaped by automotive culture. Since 2014, her administration has added over 1,300 kilometers (800 miles) of bike lanes, making cycling a viable and safe option for commuters.”

Mayor Anne Hidalgo says when banning diesel vehicles, she was threatened by the Automotive industry saying they will fight against her and demonstrate that she is a bad mayor. Is this what happened with Andy, Tim, and all the others who are now so anti-bike?

The Mackay bridge closure got me thinking about the wse rebuild. How much worse will this traffic be during construction? Once built, like removing bridge tolls, how much worse will it make traffic after it's completion? Is 150 million to jam the peninsula with more cars really worth it?

Morse there's a cap on how many parking tickets that can be issued in a month?

Yes, it's a capacity issue with the province the HRM can only issue 4000 parking tickets a month. YOOOOOO IF EVERYONE PARKS ILLEGALLY IT WILL BECOME FREE BY THE END OF THE MONTH!
