Dealing with a family medical crisis right now so probs won't be on much. My daughter had complications giving birth to my grandson and both are in the ICU. They're expected to make a full recovery but it was a scary 24 hours so send thoughts and prayers if you do that sort of thing.

Today I received emails from 'Donna Tartt' and 'Grady Hendrix,' gushing about my books and wanting to Collab with me. Have I finally arrived? (short answer.: no. IYKYK)

Given how my FB ads went this last time and that nearly all the ads I'm being delivered are for D&D minis I'm starting to think FB finally has targeting figured out.

Hopefully someday i will remember that even non-drowsy cold medicine puts me to sleep and stop being <shocked Pikachu face> when DayQuil knocks me out for four hours.

Everyone says ‘believe in yourself,’ but they skip the fine print: no one else can clock in for your shift.

Ok, so, The Lion and the Sparrow continues to do well. For me, this is a blockbuster success, especially since I didn't discount it or set it for free and just ran FB/Insta ads.

I LOVED Frankenstein. It was very much not a faithful book adaptation but did lean into the book's themes really well, and ended on a much less bleak note. The production was beautiful and the performances were astounding. 5/5 may end up as my favorite film I saw this year.

I know you're all probably really glad I shared this!

Making progress on The Calculus of Hope. Just took down post-it 6 of 14, so almost to the midpoint. Should be done by the end of the year unless life (or the book) attacks. Missed a work day because a nascent cold and sleep deprivation snuck up on me but I'm still on track.

The secret to life? Just try. Effort fixes more than you think. Even a half-assed attempt is still 50% more ass than doing nothing at all.

Running on three hours sleep and feel like my body is in active revolt. Yet it won't fall asleep if I try. Work is not happening today.

Creativity isn’t a talent, it’s a haunting. Ideas show up at 3AM like “hey bestie, ruin your whole sleep schedule and make me real.” And honestly? Worth it.

Got a message from a book marketer about how much they liked valley of storms.

And like, i know I should have blocked and deleted but I engaged. My response:

That's really interesting since the book won't be out until April and I'm in the process of editing it. Kindly fuck all the way off.

There's no wrong way to get to the end of a draft. Plot? Pants? A Frankenstein hybrid of both (my fave)? Any process that lets you finish things is valid.

Switching to standard time in the modern age is weird. All my devices are like 'dude, I don't know what you're talking about, it's always been this time.'
