They have this map.

Obviously I'm looking forward to getting my Ruby passport, and I'm sure the lounges will be interesting.

But what is this secret experience?
Map of SF Ruby Conference's venue.

There are food trucks. 2 theaters - Blackbox and Main Stage. 2 lounges - Zero Gravity and Spacesuits. A workshop studio. There's a Ruby Embassy room.

Then there's a room labeled "Secret Experience".

Evil Martians delivers deep technical competency with this touch of delightful whimsy.

I cannot wait to see what a conference organized by them looks like!

The program is focused on the bleeding edge of Ruby, but I want to see the rest!

I really want to go! For me, a lot of it is the community. I've got a friend, and some of my favorite Twitch chatters and rubyists are in Brazil.

I've been to a Ruby Retreat in NZ, but this would also be my first international conference!

I think I'll set an alarm for when the tickets drop.

For the last several years, I've been trying to get a ticket to Tropical.rb!

But they always sell out so fast, before I can secure childcare, or I'm like super-pregnant.

This year though?? I'm getting a ticket. 🤞

I'm curious what you come up with. I've been wanting a replacement for Google photos for a while.

Thank you so much for inviting me to join! Despite the nature of the topic, I was really excited to be on a podcast I've listened to for so long, and listening to it was a trip!

I've been a long time listener of Remote Ruby and appreciate the opportunity and trust Andrew showed in inviting me on to discuss such a controversial topic. ❤️

Please let me know if you give it a listen!

And as for the different conclusion...

If I woke up one day, and my permissions were downgraded from owner to contributor for a project that I'd spent years on, paid my mortgage with, and felt a strong sense of responsibility for, I'd be heartbroken.

In my opinion, all of this shows a track record of Ruby Central owning and securing RubyGems.

I don't know when André quit, I've heard 3 months ago.
In May, Ellen's hours were set to 0.
On 9/5, Samuel Giddens quit.

On 9/9, HSBT adds Marty as owner of the repo, and removes non-RC employees.
chaelcodes.bsky.social
Marty replaced André as project lead on RubyGems and bundler on 9/5/24.
rubycentral.org/news/ruby-ce...

Marty went full-time on that job with the Alpha-Omega sponsorship.

He added TOS, Privacy, Acceptable Use, and Copyright policies.

Ruby Central has been acting as the stewards and owners of RubyGems, etc.

The projects all list Ruby Central as the managing body (and have for 2 years).

All of the people I've seen claiming ownership were previously paid by Ruby Central.

Ruby Together was dissolved and merged entirely into Ruby Central.
andre.arko.net/2025/09/25/b...

@joel.drapper.me believes that because the repositories were not explicitly listed in the transfer, they were not transferred in the merger - that they belonged to either Tidelift or the maintainers.
chaelcodes.bsky.social
This all goes back to Ruby Together.

Ruby Together was responsible for RubyGems, bundler, and rubygems.org.

Some of their actions around funding and meeting minutes show they felt those projects were theirs.

Thanks! I'd love to hear your take on it.

This is by far the most sensible take ever since all this mess started.

Glad there are still some people capable making the difference between unsubstantiated conspiracy theories and proper reporting of facts.

Thank you ❤️

This might be an unpopular take, but it's mine. I tried to stick to the facts wherever possible and provide more context.

If you want references, I'm happy to provide them.

I'm enjoying the walkaway lunch concept that we're seeing at conferences. The food is typically better, and the walk is a good opportunity for conversation.

I think a theater or music venue is a cool place to have one in general. Good vibes.

Maybe comedy clubs or places that host stand-up?
chaelcodes.bsky.social
Hey!! I'm looking forward to seeing you there!

This and some of your previous replies sound a bit like AI, if so, good bot.
