I teach high school and I like to knit things.
Apparently the view of most politicians is that "To murder one protester may be regarded as a misfortune; to murder two looks like carelessness."

I don’t think we should be using words like “innocent” or “US citizen” or “bystander” or things like that because — what if someone was an undocumented immigrant with a criminal record? Would they deserve this? No one deserves to be executed on the street in cold blood.

I had to gather my family for a brief presentation of the list of insults to knitting contained here. Wtf google

Literally Sappho in 700 BCE complaining about this:
Some say thronging cavalry, some say foot soldiers,
others call a fleet the most beautiful of
sights the dark earth offers, but I say it’s whatever you love best.

Niece: some Oreos have orange frosting.
Me: yes, some of them have green frosting too.
Niece: no they don't.

After getting some ouchy vaccine shots on Friday, my daughter said, "you know, I feel like doctors really overestimate how much people like stickers."

The mainstream media's obsession with writing incessantly about AGI, despite the fact that it's not going to happen any time soon, is driving students to drop out.

I hope you guys will consider revisiting this episode if you get a chance to read Careless People. Sheryl Sandburg pressured a woman who was 9 months pregnant to a) fly internationally and b) snuggle with her on the flight home.
Episode 27: Lean In

In 2013, Sheryl Sandberg delivered a simple message to women: you are faced with tremendous structural hurdles in the workplace, but you can overcome them and get rich by illegally selling user data and so forth.

Hungary banned anything that “promotes homosexuality,” which means Pride.

However, today over 500,000 people in Budapest told the government to fuck off. 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️

Yes my daughter went to an all HP themed birthday party last week. SUPER weird considering I know the parents are not jerks.
your regular reminder that buying Harry Potter stuff gives money to Rowling and she uses that money directly and in large quantities to fund attacks on trans people

no ethical consumption under capitalism and all but “don’t buy Potter stuff” is an extremely easy baseline to follow
The upcoming Hogwarts Legacy 2 could potentially feature more characters from the Harry Potter books and movies.

Went to a #TeslaTakedown today. I've been to protests but this was the first one on a major road. It was so fun getting supportive honks from people in their cars. Teenagers tended to lean all the way out the window to wave and scream approval.

“They did the crimes at night so it’s tough” is a damning indictment of all the money we spend on surveillance/ and security theater
“These criminal actions appear to have been conducted by lone offenders, and all known incidents occurred at night, making identification and arrest of the actors difficult,”

FBI bulletin saying what I've been saying: zero relationship between protests and vandals.
