A new statewide survey finds that rising costs are squeezing Arizonans — and they want more affordable clean power.

The message is clear: now’s the time to add solar & wind — our fastest, cheapest and most water-smart energy options. https://bit.ly/443NdUg

To summarize the coal drama in Michigan:

Utility + regulators: We'd like to retire this coal plant to reduce costs.

Ratepayers: We want lower costs, that's great!

Department of Energy: WE ARE KEEPING THIS COAL PLANT OPEN EVEN IF IT COSTS $600K EVERY DAY & YOU WILL PAY.

Trump Wants to Prop Up Coal Plants. They Keep Breaking Down.
According to a new analysis shared exclusively with Heatmap, coal’s equipment-related outage rate is about twice as high as wind’s.

“This two-tiered approach — going to great lengths to prop up costly fossil fuels like coal plants while blocking the cheapest, cleanest sources — won’t lower electricity costs. It just saddles families and businesses with higher bills and more asthma-causing pollution.”
The White House is offering “concierge, white glove service” to oil, coal and other fossil fuel companies that are seeking to gain fast approval for their projects, according to an energy official, while slowing down or blocking solar and wind projects.

Turns out keeping half-a-century-year-old coal plants on life support costs a fortune.

A new report finds the Trump administration’s scheme to use emergency powers to force dirty, aging fossil-fueled power plants keep running could cost U.S. consumers from $3B to nearly $6 billion per year by 2028 — and that’s a conservative estimate:

There's a lot of talk about bringing back American manufacturing.

Clean energy is already doing it.

The majority of jobs + investment are revitalizing communities too often left behind.

Congress must protect this momentum. wordinblack.com/2025/04/clea...

Clean Energy Jobs Are Revitalizing Communities. We Must Defend Them
Despite the damage that’s been done, Congress can still do what’s right: protect clean energy jobs that are essential to our future.

There's already a lot of concern about energy prices in Maine. We're more reliant on imported heating oil and nat gas than most states.

Gutting commonsense clean energy investments in our own state would make it worse.
A halt to clean energy tax credits being considered in the Republican-controlled Congress and the Trump administration could boost electricity prices in Maine by 17% over the next 15 years, adding an average of $15 to a monthly bill.
Cutting clean energy tax credits would drive up Maine power bills
Eliminating tax credits could lead to a loss of $22 billion a year in clean power investment in the U.S. In Maine, the loss would be $100 million annually, according to a report.

The Office of Management & Budget is one of those DC insider-sounding agencies, but it has profound impact. It's the "nerve center" of the govt, overseeing funding needed for critical health & environmental protections.
