The TTC didn’t get one they were satisfied with enough to reassure the public the line is safe until Wednesday, after headlines went up that the opening date was again called into question.
Two sources, with direct knowledge of the communications between the two transit agencies, told the Star that, as news of a Feb. 8 opening date leaked to the media on Monday evening, the TTC didn't get a thorough enough explanation about the brakes issue from Metrolinx, despite Lindsay's email. Lali then remained noncommittal to the Feb. 8 opening date when pushed by reporters at the Board of Trade. One source confirmed that Lali got the email, but said "it did not contain the level of detail, the granular level of the detail" that the TTC CEO sought on the braking issues. Another, separate source told the Star there were "repeated attempts" from the TTC since Monday to get a satisfactory explanation from Metrolinx. But, the source was adamant that the TTC didn't get one they were satisfied with enough to reassure the public the line is safe until Wednesday, after headlines went up that the long-awaited opening date was once again called into question.
