Fuck this was what Illinois was good at, arresting and throwing our guvs in jail
This week in photos 📸

This week was a whirlwind, with the historic conviction of former Illinois House Speaker Michael Madigan, former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich pardoned by President Donald Trump and Chicagoans preparing for snow. https://buff.ly/4hE7ZOO

And about 200 of those rides were mine
Yesterday morning CDOT told us that Chicago set a record in 2024 with 10M+ bike- and scooter-share rides. Actually – hold the phone – make that 11M+! 🥳

Cowards all: Biden signs bills with anti-trans laws, Meta allows anti-trans rhetoric, Walmart and McDonald’s ditch DEI, Disney cuts trans stories. All this & Trump’s not even in office yet. Not surprising, but it shows how quickly they cede in advance because they only ever care for money & power.

Baerskin ads have a couple lines that repeat the phrase "...but you're A MAN" in the same way a 1970s middle school coach might admonish their boy's team. It's so over the top that I can't tell if it's parody but even if it was I assume most of their customers wouldn't notice.

"Israel’s push to normalise the mass killing of journalists threatens not just Palestinian media workers. If such behaviour in war zones is normalised, then no journalist, no matter what passport they carry, would be safe."

Silence on Israel’s massacres of journalists is dangerous to all
International media’s reluctance to show solidarity with Palestinian journalists could backfire.

When my daughter was young, took her to see Halle Berry's Catwoman. When the shy Patience, new to her powers, took on some rowdy men at a party, she told me "I like this girl...I want to be this girl." Thought about that when Hogarth saw the first scene of Prey.

Amnesty International says Israel’s detention of Kamal Adwan Hospital director Dr Hussam Abu Safia is emblematic of the “genocidal intent” in Israel’s broader attempts to “annihilate” Gaza’s healthcare sector.

Watched two of my favorite holiday movies "The Thin Man" and "After the Thin" back-to-back. Although I knew one takes place during Christmas and the other on NYE, watching back-to-back, I've just noticed that the second starts right after the first.
