I like nu metal! I just think it’s more than rap rock and Evil Empire doesn’t have the down tuning and bounce riffs and bass forward mixes.

I had permissive household when it came to music but my mom’s line was that she wouldn’t buy me Rob Zombie’s HELLBILLY DELUXE. It’s funny because it’s just him telling you about old monster movies he’s seen and occasionally his wife shows up to go “I’m a sexy baby zombie and I’m gonna getchoo!”

I’m reasonably confident they would have let me buy it (6 months later my mom drove me to buy Rage Against The Machine’s self titled with Thích Quảng Đức’s self immolation on the cover) but it was a necessary act of rebellion.

Every movie where the characters don’t explicitly attempt and fail to summon Beetlejuice must be assumed to be a Beetlejuice sequel. The audience should always suspect that any character could say it and then everyone has to deal with his disrespectful antics.

The Ken Burns’ Vietnam documentary has a lot of issues and positioning I disagree with but using all that THE FRAGILE-era NIN music over archival footage was harrowing.
