Other consideration - possibility for an earring design. I think metal would get too heavy for that for sure.
I’m leaning towards acrylic because I won’t be doing high enough volumes to justify the moulding process

Other ideas were timber or acrylic for the anchor part, but I'm unsure about how much post-processing I want to do on the laser-cut parts to create a chamfer on the anchor edge.
Also if I go for metal for the anchor then maybe I should go for metal on the gold acrylic bits too... might raise costs.

Thank you! I love Dhelmise too, it has such a strong design so this came together relatively easily.
Now I need to work out what materials to use for the final draft!

I'll admit that the main city rectangle isn't as distinct as I'd like due to the tram and train tracks that carve their way through the roads, but the backlit view might still justify all the hours I spent redrawing the train lines...

Thank you, I’m really proud of all the problem solving that went into this one!

I used heat from a candle to seal the edges of the synthetic ribbon which had the side-effect of making it a bit more rigid along the edge. It’s very hard to control the heat though… might try experimenting with my soldering iron next.

Thank you for joining! I always love having a way to connect with the other artists at the event too, even though we’re far apart.
