New prototype… inspired by the decorations on the Gdansk regional caster desk

Success! All the prototyping worked out, now to do the boring parts like track down better colour matches and dial in laser settings so the middle of the sash doesn’t cut through.

I used heat from a candle to seal the edges of the synthetic ribbon which had the side-effect of making it a bit more rigid along the edge. It’s very hard to control the heat though… might try experimenting with my soldering iron next.

I made some free box templates for making your own blind boxes!

Sometimes the challenge after making V1 of something is working out how to fix the little issues on a pre-established base. It can be tough to feel like iterations are going one step forward and two steps back
