To gain status at work, stand out - don't blend in👇

The Red Sneaker Effect says:

People who wear unique clothes in the office are seen as being higher status and more competent than those around them.

What's more powerful than an ad?

An identity.

Don't blast ads that say "buy, buy, buy."

Craft an identity.

Make people aspire to it.

Show them how your product helps them get there.

There are two ways to grow your business with marketing:

1) Spend more money on marketing
2) Make your marketing more effective (and spend the same or less)

Both can work.

But personally I feel better knowing number 2 - effectiveness - is maxed out before spending more.

Like Nike -

A sneaker isn't just a sneaker.

It's a performance tool that's essential to most sports.

And it can help you become an athlete (whatever "athlete" means for you).

Copywriting tip:

To better persuade, use indirect claims.

Indirect claims ask people to use their imaginations to make connections and come to a conclusion on their own.

Instead of saying...

❌ "Snickers is filling."

Try saying...

✅ "You're not you when you're hungry."
