Den Klimawandel gibt es nicht.
Und wenn es ihn gäbe,
dann ist er nicht menschengemacht.
Und wenn er menschengemacht wäre,
dann ist er nicht schlecht für uns.
Und wenn er schlecht für uns wäre,
dann können wir ihn sowieso nicht aufhalten.

Kneesvember 2024 Day 1

For the third consecutive year my parents have clouded funnels (Clitocybe nebularis) in their flower beds. I even might be lucky enough to find Volvariella surrecta again.

Including this autumn I found at least 10 to 20 different mushroom species in my neighbour's garden with at least one pine, spruce, beech, chestnut, oak, walnut, cherry, apple, pear and fir tree. I really wish to be able to own a similar garden one day. Don't need a perfectly trimmed 1-species lawn.

I was pretty surprised how many Lactarius deterrimus/deliciosus(?) grew in my neighbour's 30-year-old garden. He was fine with me, picking these.

Finally found enough half-free morels (M. semilibera) to cook them. It was pretty tasty. They don't quite taste like they smell, but still keep a semblance of that aroma. A nice reward for searching in ankle-high undergrowth with a stick.

Always wear your brown/red cap, when mushroom foraging.

I might have lost my composure for a second or two, as I found them today.

Update:
After frying them, they tasted pretty good. A little bit sour/citrussy comparable to champignons that were fried/cooked with a bit of lemon juice. Can recommend.
🍄📷 I've found 3 of these (Gomphidius glutinosus or "Kuhmaul" in German) as well. I did remove its slime layer, but it still discoloured some of the Craterellus tubaeformis I've had in the basket. I want to fry and taste them for the first time this evening.

🍄📷 Finally have found enough for a decent meal. 😌

🍄📷 Sometimes you just stumble upon a group/gathering/swarm/murder (?) of one of the most deadly mushrooms next to a sidewalk: Death Caps (Amanita phalloides) with pretty visible characteristics.

🍄📷 I've taken the second picture about 3,5 hours after the first one. That must have been a feast for these flies.

I don’t get serious very often on this account but this is a PSA that you CANNOT rely on apps to confirm mushroom edibility and you MUST be 100% certain of your ID before you eat anything wild

Cross reference at least 3 sources including at least 1 book

Have fun foraging a stay safe friends 🙏

TIL of the Acromelalga Syndrome induced by ingestion of Clitocybe amoenolens or C. acromelalga.
It causes extreme pain in hands and feet, which causes repeated fainting. Apparently it's treated by induced coma until the toxin is metabolized/excreted. 😨

The mushroom gods heard me complaining about never finding lobster mushrooms that are good enough to eat!!!

Had a fun final walk with @fungiwithbengi.bsky.social before he headed home.
