People like Isaac Herzog, who claim to be 'defending Europe' by committing or supporting war crimes at its periphery, are typically doing the opposite – they are acting against our core values and should be held accountable. (7/7)

What Herzog said was essentially the same as what Milošević said in the Gazimestan speech: "Serbia heroically defended itself in the field of Kosovo, but it also defended Europe. Serbia was at that time the bastion that defended the European culture, religion, and European society in general". (5/7)

Herzog‘s claim “We are defending Europe. We are defending Western values and the free world with the blood and the tears of our sons and daughters and families“ shouldn’t have remained uncontested. It's worth watching the discussion between Bronwen Maddox and Israel's president, Isaac Herzog at @chathamhouse.org. Although it is commendable that Herzog participated in the exchange, he largely resorted to smoke and mirrors and to cynicism when answering criticism of his government. (1/7)

Aber wir hatten die Pflicht, menschlich zu handeln, auch wenn es mit Kosten verbunden ist. Hätten Deutsche stattdessen im Sommer 2015 auf einreisende Flüchtlinge geschossen, dann hätten wir und unser Land viel größeren Schaden genommen. Angela Merkel hat es auf den Punkt gebracht. (7/7)

Drittens hat die deutsche Regierung den Flüchtlingszustrom nicht einfach hingenommen, sondern ist in Verhandlungen mit der Türkei getreten, um Syrer an der Ausreise zu hindern. Für diesen dreckigen aber erfolgreichen Deal zahlt die EU seither Milliarden an Erdoğan. Kein Wort dazu von Gujer. (5/7)

Erstens vergleicht Gujer die Flüchtlinge mit Kriegsgegnern, vor denen die deutsche Politik „kapituliert“ hätte. Das ist eine üble Entmenschlichung, wie auch seine Metapher „Über Deutschland ergoss sich im vergangenen Jahrzehnt eine wahre Flutwelle.“ Es war keine Flutwelle, es waren Menschen. (2/7)

Habeck sieht die verstärkte politische Polarisierung als Folge größerer Sorgen um soziale Sicherheit. Doch wir erleben sie in allen Ländern, egal wie stark die soziale Sicherheit abnimmt. Habeck wirkt angesichts des Verlusts der Mitte etwas ratlos. Er will nicht „zurück polarisieren“, wie das bspw. Gouverneur Newsom versucht, sondern Konflikte weiterhin rational und durch Verstehen lösen. Gleichzeitig sagt er, daß sein Ansatz gescheitert ist. (2/3)
