In a woodcut released today the Guild of Thieves and Cutpurses declared that enforcement of regulations against Thieving and Pursecutting would ‘devastate a growth industry’ and damage the economy.

I'd guess nobody will be able to find who it was, even if they wanted to.

...regardless of if people think they like the motives of a person leaking or not.

There's good reason why there's a journalist exemption to data protection law. Many/most leaks which have been in the public interest throughout the decades would be against data protected law

You're saying it was a political opponent without a tiny bit of evidence of the motive of the leaker. Same thing on here: I've seen Connelly supporters attack fellow lefties calling them anything under the sun because they have issues with her judgement. Again: Journalists' sources are protected...

Far-right politicians want freedom of speech, but never want to be questioned -- questioning people is part of freedom of speech, but it's always branded as "shutting people down" etc.

Wow. Robert Jenrick doubles down by branding a black journalist's questions "ridiculous" and saying that the problem is not his comments, but "journalists like you who pop up and try to knock me down", adding that "this is the reason why terrorist attacks happen". ~AA

In Dublin's first experiment of continuous footpaths along a route, the Clontarf to City Centre route, the design was not right in terms of slowing motorists, but there was also this issue at Fairview Ave Lr that rat-running was not being addressed, despite residents and Cllrs asking for it to be.

'"Motorists" is a strange name for a political party (6 seats in Czech parliament)' I thought. 'Must be a wonky translation'

Nope. And each section in the wiki gets worse.

We all make mistakes, but The Irish Times' inability to write correction notes or to admit that it has been wrong is deeply problematic, especially when it comes to somebody's character and during an election campaign.

PSA: The protection of journalists' sources applies regardless of whether you like an article or not.

Also, claiming the media are just out to get one candidate when coverage of a story has just pushed another candidate out of the race seems a bit implausible.

I have to say, I've been extremely lucky with landlords...

If the landlord that lived in our garage and pretended he didn't and used to secretly sleep in one of the girls beds when she was away and used go through our bins and once fished out a pregnancy test amd brought it up ever runs for president I will be ready

It feels like the media here have been desperate for a good controversy engine and if they seize on HH's comments about gender we are all in for a horrible election.

Now it falls to the Irish media to not be taken in by a transparent right wing rat fucking/agenda setting attempt and uh the past signs here aren't good

Just emailed Heather. "Just letting you know, you just lost about 40 votes from our extended family in Monaghan when you threw our son and all the trans people in Ireland under the bus by pandering to the rightwing rag Gript (1/)

Back to the actual and current Presidential candidates -with all the Jim Gavin shenanigans of the last 24 hours it may have not grabbed people’s attention that Heather Humphreys just threw trans people under the bus in response to a Grift dot ie reporters question! So there’s that! #aras25 #speirgorm

81GWh yesterday from wind was the most ever for an October day, equivalent to 77.1% of the day's electricity demand. Add biomass, solar, and hydro and it's 82.2%. Only seven days have ever seen a higher share. Grid carbon intensity averaged 105gCO₂/KWh: the fourth lowest ever.

A key question I don't hear being asked is: Who did Jim Gavin's vetting?

And, given that there were recent scandals about landlords in politics, was there any questioning to Gavin around being a landlord? Even just something basic as if his property was registered?

Yes. Will follow up with RSA.

this is wild: while Stephen Miller's guy was in Minnesota for his uncle's funeral, somebody was able to see his entire phone and take pictures of his Signal group chats talking about military deployments to Portland, and brought them to the Strib (gift link: www.startribune.com/trump-offici...)
