WALP that was just super odd and weird
Both ProxySQL nodes on my network which run in a high-availability cluster via CARP on FreeBSD...
Both failed to initialize CARP, therefor their shared HA IP address never got assigned to either node.
Simple reboot of each fixed it, but weird troubleshooting

Last month at PRGE, we held a reunion panel with Nintendo employees who launched the NES. Hear from Bruce Lowry, Gail Tilden, and Lance Barr about how the scrappy staff at NOA defied all odds and released one of the most iconic game systems ever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f2WDfsiLiRA

One of the weirdest pickups for my collection now:
3x professional studio monitors that fit in a 2U space!
Each have their own HDMI input.
Conveniently, I already had a 8x8 HDMI matrix sitting right below where I wanted it ;)
This rack is starting to really kick some serious ass!

Two weeks ago, I owned no Ubiquiti hardware at all.
Am I doing it right...?
Oh, and this is only at one location I manage, I still have two more, one of which is fully stocked up as well with the other being ordered here this week :P
My wallet HURTS!

Yeah, this really is one of the most important video game historical panels of all time!
So many unique nuggets of gaming history come back to the decisions these people made, and they share never before heard details about them!

Y'all, I know two hours is a big time commitment, but this panel I arranged and hosted last month is one of the most important things I've ever done for video game history. The launch of the NES is a crazier story than most people realize, and my guests were extremely generous with their memories.
Hear about the NES US launch 40 years ago from the people that made it happen: Gail Tilden, Bruce Lowry and Lance Barr with @frankcifaldi.bsky.social from the @gamehistoryorg.bsky.social moderating! Panel recording at youtu.be/f2WDfsiLiRA

These Amazon layoffs are absolutely fucking heartbreaking.
I didn't work for Amazon, but I live very close to their Seattle campus.
Every restaurant I frequent and am known as a local at this week... Literally the only customer during the Noon lunch rush is just me...

Did some wire cleanup on my Telco rack this evening.
Currently setup for 48x POTS lines, 8x T1/E1 lines, and 16x dialup modems.
Yes, all of that, wired up, and pictured here to a single patch panel!!

there have only been 2 World Series games this long. They were both game 3, both dodgers, both at home, both won by a walk off home run from a white guy whose name is an alliteration

These "two cables" turn out to be 24 total fibers!
For comparison, 12-fiber MTP/MPO cable vs 2-fiber cable.
I needed a lot of high-bandwidth networking in one place not near the networking core, and didn't want another switch there anymore.
This is a GREAT solution!

One of the greatest invention in history !?!? I sure think so!
Adding "two" more wires from my core network in the storage unit down to my entertainment center... for "reason"... ;)

Look at the brand new flooring just installed this week over at @pinkgorillagames.com by UW.
I'm hardly ever over at this location, but am a weekly regular at the other two.
But special times calls for a special visit ;)

I ran into a very VERY interesting hardware incompatibility issue last night...
A GPU that uses 40bit memory addressing.
This limits the system's address space (yes, that means RAM and more) to only 1TB.
The box had over 1TB addressable memory.
So, what happened...?

This performance still boggles my mind!
Triple Intel Optane drives in a RAID-Z1 configuration, dual 10gbe NICs, with the CPU and RAM to back it all up... in a freaggin ROUTER.
3 second "zpool scrub" times. I could run these hourly instead of daily, and still not notice any performance hit at all.
