My theoretical economic self would love to go full “wokey” on social & economic policy. But I’m also a pragmatist. A stable country needs a degree of consensus & at times the only way to build up is to cement foundations and let it settle.

My overwhelming feeling from the political and social commentary of recent weeks is that post-2016, this country has forgotten what diplomacy and good governance looks like.
