The Mental Hygiene Law defines "mental abnormality" as "a congenital or acquired condition, disease or disorder that affects the emotional, cognitive, or volitional capacity of a person in a manner that predisposes him or her to the commission of conduct constituting a sex offense and that results in that person having serious difficulty in controlling such conduct" (Mental Hygiene Law §10.03[i]).

I did so on the grounds that they wouldn't take me down to the station. Comments Moderated A couple of weeks back I made a post on X which basically said, "I'm now a single-issue voter. My vote goes to the first party that promises to smash Ofcom to the ground." Now, I didn't literally mean physically destroy them. The comment was a reply to a discussion about the funding of Quangos (£390+bn a year) and overreach of non-elected bodies with less accountability than MPs or councillors etc. I clearly meant a party that promises to dismantle Ofcom as an organisation. I deleted the tweet in front of the officers and they didn't arrest or charge me with anything. All in all they were fairly friendly, albeit I wasn't too happy at having to delete that comment. What would have happened if I refused to delete it? They did say they'd have to bring me down to the station. What would that actually have entailed? An arrest? Prison time? I've got a couple of speeding fines in the past 20 years but no other criminal records of any kind.
