It's become clear that this administration is just a protracted war on anybody who's read a book without pictures in it. It's a miracle we're all still getting up and going to work every morning. The psychological drain is the point, and I'm increasingly grateful to the people who are still decent.

Disabled people are not your enemy.

Immigrants are not your enemy.

Trans people are not your enemy.

We are scapegoats to make people believe they can have a better life at our expense.

A better life is possible if you tax the wealthy. If the billionaire class is abolished.

If we are cared for.

There are far more disabled people pretending to be well than there are pretending to be sick.

Being on disability is not fun.

You’re forced into legislated poverty. Treated like a “useless eater”. Shunned, abandoned and constantly questioned.

It’s dehumanizing 🧵

Anyone else feeling like the “work requirement” for Medicaid is going to quickly turn into non-voluntary labour?

The US was founded on slavery and seems intent on bringing it back under the guise of keeping things “all American”.

Education is a basic human right.

Healthcare is a basic human right.

Housing is a basic human right.

Clean air, water and food are basic human rights.

If we provided these things for everyone, we would have a healthier & happier society.

It can be done.

I know I’m going against the grain, but I do with we’d stop obsessing about people having to have contributed before they can get benefits. Benefits come because of need. Need can come from lots of reasons. Do you want a disabled child to have contributed before you deign to help them?

Disabled people are not scamming the system.

We're not the reason for high taxes or economic hardship.

We're a scapegoat. A distraction so you don’t focus on the billionaires and corporations benefitting from huge tax cuts.

It’s exceedingly hard to qualify for disability benefits.

These fascist policies will land on everyone’s doorstep eventually.

You either rise up and resist now, or risk it being too late when they come for you.

Republicans keep saying the “genuinely disabled” don’t have to worry about losing Medicaid.

All disabilities are genuine.

You also need healthcare to get a diagnosis. To get the paperwork done. To “prove it”.

They’re ensuring people get trapped in red tape loopholes so they can’t get care.

The fact we have secret police whisking people off the streets doesn’t get enough attention. It ain’t normal and we’re further down the road to authoritarianism than you think.

Alligator Alcatraz was built in 8 days

It took just over a week to create a massive concentration camp that will torture people

Remember this the next time those in power claim they can't house the homeless, feed the starving or provide medical care to the the poor

They can, they don't want to

This is concentration camp propaganda being promoted on the same day he announced he will start targeting citizens for removal.

It’s ok to rest.

It’s ok to unplug.

It’s ok to take a break.

Rest is resistance.

Ableism has conditioned us to believe that taking care of ourselves is somehow lazy or wrong.

It’s not. It’s necessary.

If you don’t take breaks, your body will force you.

Give yourself permission to rest.

We're in an era of anti-Black backlash, so things are about to be even more hellish for Black women in the spotlight.

"Protect Black women," "believe Black women," "vote like Black women," and "let Black women lead" are generating visceral responses from many lately.

It's where we are right now.

Never forget that Pride came out of a historic protest at Stonewall, which also gave us two significant transgender activists.

This year, the Stonewall National Monument removed trans flags.

It’s a reminder that the Regime seeks to erase trans people.

Medicaid provides care to 2.3 million children with disabilities.

If it gets cut, kids will die.

They’re willing to sacrifice the lives of millions of disabled children to ensure that the rich get richer.

Call, write & email your elected officials. Tell them to vote “No”
Disabled kids like mine rely on Medicaid to survive; this bill cuts Medicaid.

I don't know how else to say that medically complex disabled children will die as a result of this bill.

The big ugly bill cuts Medicaid & food assistance, both of which are crucial to the disability community.

It drastically increases funding for the Gestapo, while also making the top 1% even richer.

This should enrage people on both sides of the aisle.

People are afraid of disability. They can’t comprehend the “chronic” part of chronic illness.

They expect us to tell them we’re “fine”.

They ask if we’re “better yet?”

They ghost us when we don’t improve.

Be mad that they’re trying to cut Medicaid and food assistance.

Be mad that they’re once again giving tax cuts to the rich.

Be enraged about why they’re making these cuts. It’s not that they can’t afford these services, it’s that they would rather spend them on kidnapping & torturing immigrants
