The circle of fifths, AKA how to figure out what notes you can play in key at any given moment:

The circle of fifths.

Each key increases in number of flats or sharps according to the order. Order of flats: B, E, A, D, G, C, F. Order of sharps: F, C, G, D, A, E, B.

C natural is at the top, & contains no flats or sharps. Keys on the flat side (counter clockwise from top, increasing number of flats): F, B flat, E flat, A flat, D flat, G flat (at bottom). Keys on the sharp side (clockwise from top, increasing number of sharps): G, D, A, E, B, F sharp (at bottom, sharing the same space as G flat).

Relative minor keys are as follows (listed clockwise, sharp side): C major/A minor, G major/E minor, D major/B minor, A major/F sharp minor, E major/C sharp minor, B major/G sharp minor, G flat major/E flat minor, D flat major/B flat minor, A flat major/F minor, E flat major/C minor, B flat major/G minor, F major/D minor.

Found a fascinating video of Gershwin playing piano. It hadn’t occurred to me, but his style of playing was a lot like that of Chico Marx. would love to learn more about this style as I recognize it was something trendy. Percussive & showy, not too subtle in the dynamics

Annoyed with arguing with the kids on instagram so I’m just gonna say it here: there’s no reason the sport of fencing must be separated by gender- any advantage in strength or speed can be overcome with the right tactics, so average differences between men and women are a non-issue.
