I just assume the TARDIS let him think he was making a difference for shits and giggles. But it's very eighties - plenty of companions in the Davison era have a peck at the console and achieve minor useful things here and there!

I didn't say I liked him, steady on.

Just that I liked him more in this than his other stories. And at least this time he wasn't followed round by that riff that started off being quite fun, catchy & hummable but was repeated so often I wanted to cement my ears in by episode two (from Haunting) ;)

Spared the right wing bastard human antagonist, killed the younger Asian Rani but kept the old white one alive, and kept the mixed race trans actress in the background for every episode after her introduction. He probably sits there going "this isn't woke at all, they're all wrong!"

To be fair, there was an "Amazon is good actually and the workers can go to hell, the boisterous bolshies" story called Kerblam and the most recent series, for all they cried woke about it, wrote out the first female companion, put the second in a fridge and trad wifed her with a baby...

Much, much more interesting Doctor Who Magazine this month than last. Although I could have quite happily read dozens of pages of Bidmead - who wasn't always right, but by God when he was right, he was right... and lovely @robertshearman.bsky.social, also on the money. *Good* writers to the front!

Jenrick (Shollack! Pure Jenrick!) is awful and seems to be the front runner. Cleverley isn't clever. People fear Johnson making a shock return. It's that mad - unlikely but not impossible. The thought of them dying forever would be glorious if Reform wasn't waiting in the wings. They're ruining it.

The Lib Dems seem to be pitching to clean up more Conservatives, but it's dangerous ground to appeal too much to that side, as we've seen from Labour. Things might be not too bad if *they* become the official opposition, though it's a shame they've thrown their toys out the pram on ID cards.

Starting to feel vaguely sorry for the Tories. Not sure why - they're fucking awful - but the fate of everyone's future does seem to depend on them rallying to at least keep Reform out of power, however much they've mutated in to clones of them.
