Steve, being a small business owner doesn't make you a capitalist — you can have a small business (maybe even a larger one) and even be anti-capitalist.

Just don't:
- Exploit your workers
- Have opaque wage structures
- Focus on private profit over community benefit

Yes, this is simplifying things

Is this not just blackmail?

I wonder if Steve Reed will attend the National Emergency Briefing on the 27th November... nebriefing.org

This comparison in the article stood out to me as slightly random:
"China generated 1,826 terawatt-hours of wind and solar electricity in 2024, five times more than the energy contained in all 600 of its nuclear weapons."

“We've been made to believe that the greatest fight of our generation is to destroy everything our forefathers left us: tradition, privacy, sovereignty, the free market, and free speech.”

Yikes.

But the messages also include invitations to join in a reactionary movement for a nostalgic past, against the *checks notes* evils of liberal democracies in Europe with their censoring online safety laws.

No mention of censorship in Russia or other states. No mention of misuse of tech platforms.

Pardon my ignorance, but there is already the third National Adaptation Plan. (which is critiqued as lacking)

What are the specifics of a resilience plan in comparison?

Are you sure that some aren't bots too?
I am not sure whether I am being optimistic or pessimistic.

I always check with the Yuka app and avoid sunscreens with nasty chemicals for the environment (and me)

Super uplifting to see so many millions take to the streets for #NoKings protests yesterday

But we’ve seen mass street protests before, and they didn’t achieve much - because they were one-offs, rather than a beginning

Massive #NoKings march in New York City!

Don't be naïve on the 3.5% thing, it doesn't magically do something.
Otherwise you will get there and be disappointed that [revolution/change/regime-change] hasn't happened yet!

From the article probably Lord Maurice Glasman:
'in London, Díaz had filmed Yarvin getting his portrait painted with Lord Maurice Glasman, a post-liberal political theorist who has been called “Labour’s MAGA Lord,” for his support of Brexit and his ongoing dialogue with figures like Steve Bannon.'

Thanks for the analysis, Simon.
Please can you share this with any energy-heads in London: a workshop drawing on the work of the IEA to understand and explore energy systems.

@carolecadwalla.bsky.social I attended the Q&A screening of @asifkapadia.bsky.social 's 2073 film the other night.

I think you indicated that we need to stay on the platforms and fight even with the algorithmic odds stacked against us.
I was dismayed to hear you say that we could win on these terms

Is it obvious to the American people?
Someone saying this on CNN is very different to someone on Fox News saying it.
CNN listeners probably already know.
