Yes I am still writing residency letters of recommendation on December 26. And yes, #PhORCAS just deleted my whole reference for someone because I didn’t save it before it timed out. Wtf is up with systems that don’t have autosave in the year 2024!?!?!? 😡 #pharmacy #pharmsky #academicsky #sob

A word of caution: it might feel like that grant/paper/review cannot possibly wait over the Christmas period, but you can't get time with friends and family back. You likely won't be like "really wish I'd submitted that" in 5 years time but you might regret not spending time with those you love.

Oh snap. Used to be a quick ED/ICU intervention all the time back in the day to set the beta lactam first on the pump for nursing. Love that someone decided to look at outcomes here!

Writing a letter of reference for someone? Or (gasp) drafting for someone who’s writing for you?

If you haven’t seen this graphic on avoiding gender bias, read it. Ref letters are broadly biased in both major and seemingly tiny ways. The bias is avoidable once you’re aware.

Let’s crowdsource in the #academicsky #teachlearnsky #edusky community. What is one boring, annoying, admin-y task that you wish #AI could simplify for you as an #educator? Maybe someone will know of an amazing tool to share! If not, we can manifest it. 😉

What strategies have educators been using to reduce the use of AI in student assignments?

I’d love to hear thoughts and ideas🤞🏽

Also, any suggestions for addressing this issue in teacher training programs are very welcome 🫱🏻‍🫲🏽

When I first learned about HIV as a kid, I largely learned that it was a death sentence. Now, many are living long productive lives with HIV. On this World AIDS Day, let's remember those we've lost, but also celebrate the progress we've made. #ThisIsScience Let's not go backwards. #medsky

A UK survey found that women are less likely to receive CPR during public cardiac arrest due to concerns about touching their breasts. Of 20 CPR manikins analysed worldwide, only 1 included a breast overlay.

Implicit bias and poor representation drive unequal outcomes.

In all likelihood, if you use public bathrooms, you have shared them with trans people plenty of times, and nothing has happened, and you haven’t even known, because you don’t interrogate people who are just trying to use the restroom in peace, which is as it should be.

This was so interesting to dig into. So increased clotting risk, but no better efficacy in the outcomes we care about vs PCC? Yeah that’s a NOPE.
Reading through the FDA dossier on Andexxa I. Wow- seems like a lot of the data that we have all wanted to see really DOES exist. I am interested to see how this plays out. At the very least high dose has got to go… right?! #pharmsky #medsky

I will die on this hill:
Every level 1-3 emergency room in the country should have a pharmacist and social worker staffed 24/7. I’ve been in ERs that don’t, and the differences are crystal clear.
