I once asked a bookseller at a large indie store how many people would have to buy a book for it to get the attention of the store buyer and cause an additional order and they said: Three.
I see some book piracy discourse, and, to make a positive argument in favor of buying books, your marginal ability to influence what books get published and support the careers of writers you like is massive compared to most other forms of media.

There is a post circulating on Bluesky encouraging the moving of a frozen turkey straight into a pot of hot oil. We are combating this misinformation the best way we know how - through the power of dance music.

AirBnB CEO calling it “vibe revenue” just 👨‍🍳 😘

The underlying cause of every bubble - debt masquerading as financial innovation - depends on not just short financial memory & speculative neophytism, but reinventing jargon of finance, like how each generation of kids has new ways to say same things.

"I have a decent fluency in LLMs, and they have utility, but the absurd degree of over-hype, the way they're being forced on everyone, and the insistence on ignoring the many valid critiques about them make it very difficult to focus on legitimate uses where they might add value."

I didnt know that Ireland was piloting a Basic Income for Artists program. Pretty awesome: for every €1 of public money invested in the pilot, society received €1.39 in return

www.gov.ie/en/departmen...
Basic Income for the Arts pilot produced over €100 million in Social and Economic Benefits
The findings of this external report from Alma Economics show that the real net fiscal cost of the BIA pilot over the period 2021–2025 was just under €72 million

"Hold my beer"

OpenAI spending $150M+ per year on Datadog, as per several reputable analysts... more than 2x of what Datadog spent

Like Coinbase, OpenAI will surely bring this level of spending on-house soon tho
