The future of Red America: stuck in near indentured service, you can't pay for the treatment to cure your daughter but manage to scrunge up just enough to take her to the closest privately run national Park for a final hurrah. Tears roll down your face as you say you're so lucky to be an American.

Since the Trumpists make up legal theories to justify whatever the hell they want to do, maybe it’s time for some creative thinking on the other side. For instance, in his capacity as Commander-in-Chief, perhaps Trump is subject to court martial for abusing his authority to politicize the military.

Maybe it's because I'm a parent, but avoidable harm to kids really gets to me. My kids can be difficult when they don't get an afternoon snack at the usual time. I'm sure various parents and teachers can say the same. Watching a kid starve to death? And the US govt did it on purpose?
Unconscionable.

The elimination of USAID is a moral atrocity and all involved made a choice to enable, and then lie about, ending the lives of some of the most vulnerable people in the world.
MAE SOT, Thailand (AP) - Mohammed Taher clutched the lifeless body of his 2-year-old son and wept. Ever since his family's food rations stopped arriving at their internment camp in Myanmar in April, the father had watched helplessly as his once-vibrant baby boy weakened, suffering from diarrhea and begging for food.
On May 21, exactly two weeks after Taher's little boy died, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio sat before Congress and declared: "No one has died" because of his government's decision to gut its foreign aid program. Rubio also insisted: "No children are dying on my watch."
That, Taher says, "is a lie."

IMF DIRECTOR GEORGIEVA, on @cnbc.com, calls AI a “tsunami” that will impact 60% of jobs — in some fashion.

At the IMF, she says, “We used to have 200 interpreters. Now we have 50.”

There is so much mental illness in the GOP. It's a collective hallucination. Staggering.

Sen. Hagerty: "This goes all the way back to Obama. I moved into Trump Tower the day after the election in 2016. The FBI came up and surveilled us then ... the real threat to democracy are Chuck Schumer and the Democrats."

Red America voted for this. They should live with the consequences of their own vote.

New England was in desperate need of this kind of rain to curb the drought. Scattered showers and pockets of steady light rain will persist through early afternoon for some. Here's a look at the current totals.

so theres a possibility the attorney general has seen evidence the president raped children and now the entire republican party is helping to cover it up?

I would love for it to be good news, but the most likely explanation is that the legacy media thinks Nazism is fashionable and edgy.

Yes. Clearly Republicans don't care about democracy. But they do that ICE is wasting a bunch of money going after what looks like a big Halloween party.

Once again, I’m wondering why Democrats aren’t running with a straightforward message of “despotism is un-American and unaffordable” right now and all the way into the midterms.

If you want to be a political journalist, you should have an interest in the policy news. That's the only way you'll remember or follow people who will remind you of this kind of things.
Otherwise, you're a Boston globe reporter who sounds like they're there because they couldn't do anything else.

Yes and I don't see a future Dem administration going after those who installed them because freedom of speech and non-weaponization.
There's a paradox for the need of a trump-like figure in the opposite direction, but democracy-loving politicians aren't like that.
So the movement Right can't stop.

Ruben Gallego on whether Trump is talking to Democrats:

“Look, the President clearly has some kind of dementia, so I think there's a he's probably talking to himself, or think he's talking to a Democrat, but I sincerely doubt that that's actually he's actually physically talking to a Democrat.“
