Never before, in our entire 250 year history, has the military or immigration agents been used like this. It's dystopian, illegal, and it should stop.

And the southwestern corner of PA? I mean, that's *literally* the cultural hearth of the Greater Appalachian regional culture. Its about as Midwestern as Savannah.

In historical -- not cultural -- terms, MO wasn't part of the old Northwest Territory and, indeed, was a slave state that became part of the Confederacy. PA and NY weren't part of the Old Northwest Territory either, and were settled well before parts Westward and governed by Eastern capitals.

Dunno man, seems a little misleading to write an article about Trump describing activity in Portland and Chicago as “insurrection” with a 33 year old photo of a burning donut shop taken in the 1992 LA Riots (sans caption explaining that) as the header on all your posts about it.

2. The Midwest is ultimately a shared *historical* (rather than cultural) experience: that of free states carved out of the federal NW Territory that had arable farmland and were, in their formative period, treated as "frontier" appendages of the various regional metropoles on the East Coast.
