Rewatched PENDA'S FEN. I think both Alan Clarke and writer David Rudkin were geniuses - their very different sensibilities combined here to make something extraordinary, dense and transcendent. Third time seeing it and I can't stop thinking about it. The BBC used to screen stuff like this!

A mostly forgotten Marvel title I love: Amazing High Adventure. Non-superhero anthology. #1 has work by Englehart, Severin, Salmons, Nocenti, Leialoha and that Sienkiewicz cover. Edited by Carl Potts.

For no reason I can see, early in SCROOGED, Miles Davis cameos as a street musician, alongside his band, containing a few other Jazz legends (Paul Shaffer, Larry Carlton and David Sanborn). Why? Because the '80s, that's why.

The 1995 replacement for Savage Sword of Conan, Conan the Savage, was aimed at a younger audience and has more ‘90s art (by the likes of Alcatena). Beautiful covers though and some good stories. Will your reprint programme cover it, @comicstitan.bsky.social ?

RIP Rob Reiner. Plenty of more heralded directors would kill to have popular classics like THE PRINCESS BRIDE, WHEN HARRY MET SALLY, A FEW GOOD MEN and STAND BY ME on their filmography. A craftsman of the highest rank and a fine actor too. Immortal forever for his role in his own THIS IS SPINAL TAP.

Tom Stoppard and Daniel Woodrell in the same 2 Days is just too much. Brutal loss of two great writers. RIP

Bam Rodriguez should be higher up in people’s P4P lists - his resume at this point is second to none. Has consistently made great fighters and legends look average. Special talent. And seems like a humble, nice dude - rare in elite boxing.

Larry Hama made a boatload of money for Marvel and Hasbro in the ‘80s by turning toy tie-in GI Joe into a smash so they let him do this waaaay more eccentric project with Ron Wagner as a reward. Dystopian ninja commando against an omnipotent tyrant. As awesome as weird-ass 80s mainstream comics get.

Being a fan of the Ireland football team is generally pain and boredom and frustration but then occasionally it's genuine ecstasy and euphoria. Like just 3 minutes ago.
