Just now, a national trans healthcare felony ban for youth has passed the US House, with 10 year prison terms.

3 Dems crossed party lines to vote to jail providers.

4 GOP crossed party lines to vote against.

It is not expected to pass the Senate, where Dems hold filibuster power.

Story to come.

I keep seeing people say, oh, trans people must take a hit for the greater good and, first of all, no, you don't get to discard someone else's rights and second, we know from past experience that marginalized communities like theirs are merely the first to be targeted. They'll come for you next.

New Orleans has had the fewest murders this year since 1970. Carjackings are down 80% relative to 2022, vehicle burglaries are down 70%, shootings are down 63%. This is a wholly unnecessary stunt that will hurt local businesses.

Honestly, Entergy saying they don’t expect outages makes me trust them even less to have the resources on hand to restore power if/when it does go out.
Entergy says they've been trimming trees. "We do not expect widespread outages at this time"

Is there anything more comforting than your own mother's gumbo?

Two things I learned/realized this time around:
1) She's been sneaking rotel into it this whole time (my entire life) so I guess I'm a tomatoes in gumbo person.
2) She puts okra in every gumbo, so this is clearly where I get that from.
