I lied. I’m hydrating and put this on. Hands down their best studio album. This band and multiple drugs got me through the worst years of my life. These years are bad, but they aren’t THAT bad for me so far. I’m only learning a foreign language so I can permanently leave and renounce my citizenship.

We’re going back to Puerto Vallarta soon, so I’m watching related content. I heard yesterday that this well-known street performer was murdered recently. He just appeared in this video from earlier this year. I remember standing right there enjoying his performance.

This album was produced and released in a very slimy way, basically without his permission, and he despised it. It is, however, probably his most accessible “solo” album. I still prefer what he did with Soft Machine, Gong, Tony Williams, and Jean-Luc Ponty.

Before Bitches Brew, there was this. One of the most jaw-dropping lineups possible, too: Miles, Herbie, Chick, Wayne Shorter, Dave Holland, Joe Zawinul, John McLaughlin, and Tony Williams.

Finally completed the set of the last 4 albums this group did for Prestige. I tend to prefer the later Quintet, but this one was every bit as magical. I mean…Coltrane…come on.
