Before the midterms of 1866, President Andrew Johnson called his congressional opponents traitors and said they should be hanged.

Voters were so profoundly moved by his words... that they gave his opponents a supermajority in Congress, and the nation got the Fourteenth Amendment.

Apparently current Secretary of Homeland Security (and puppy killer) does not know what habeas corpus means, as she directs illegal incarceration of hundreds of people.
HASSAN: What is habeas corpus?

NOEM: Habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country

HASSAN: That's incorrect

The Treasury Secretary is unaware of whether the leaders of the two largest economies in the world have spoken about their ongoing trade war, and everything is fine.
Raddatz: “President Trump said he has spoken to President Xi, but China has firmly denied this saying, “China and the U.S. have not consulted or negotiated on the tariff issue.” So are negotiations actually happening?”

Bessent: “I don’t know if President Trump has spoken with President Xi.”

Who is ripping off American consumers and businesses with ridiculous trade policies?
The notion that the US has been “ripped off” — even as it crushed the entire planet on cross-border fund flows for the past five years — is absolutely hilarious. 🤡

The idiocy continues
This past week, the Chinese learned

1) exactly where Trump's pain points are;

2) how much to squeeze them before he flinches;

and

3) how little America's partners and allies want to help this president.

Highly useful information.

There are 33m companies in the USA. Only 21k employe 500 or more. And they only make up 23% of workers.

Trump and Elon are ignoring the more than 32m entrepreneurs that can't afford to build a new factory or pay tariffs or absorb cancelled contracts.

The tactic that James Carville suggested in a NYT guest essay (Feb 25) appears to have worked. He wanted the Democrats to roll over and play dead and let Trump's actions tank his support. And look, they did nothing, and the collapse is happening. Idiocy on both sides prevails!
