Data Centers Aren't the Future of American Prosperity- @tamigraph.bsky.social & @mwoluchem.bsky.social bust the myths of data centers: they don't massively increase jobs, they don't increase clean energy investment, and they don't benefit local communities! OH SNAP datasociety.net/library/data...

Breonna Taylor should still be here today. Her life mattered.

Trump’s DOJ has asked that an officer charged in her murder spend just one day in jail. One day. This is atrocious—it is what injustice and systemic racism looks like.

In November, a federal jury found officer Brett Hankison guilty of violating Taylor’s civil rights during a March 2020 police raid in which she was fatally shot.

In Media, Culture & Society, I define “algorithmically imagined audiences." I examine how TikTokers politically engage with algorithms to position themselves within imagined audiences. While impactful, these practices have conceptual and practical limits.

In Information, Communication & Society, I examine what the term "shadowban" does in search engine results. "Shadowban" maintains power dynamics through attributions of agency, strategically managing conflict, and producing markets. These frames matter for policy. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
Search engine discourse analysis: how ‘shadowban’ affects policy
Amidst company denials, public interest in ‘shadowbans’ has grown. Without notifying the creator, ‘shadowbans’ limit the visibility of user-generated content. Shadowbans can be an effective content...

In Feminist Media Studies, Rachel Winter and I examine anti-feminism on Instagram. We demonstrate how branding, a gendered form of labor that puts women at disproportionate risk, is also used by anti-feminist and misogynistic collectives. www.tandfonline.com/doi/full/10....
Anti-feminist branding: a case study of #JusticeForJohnnyDepp on Instagram
