Charlie Kirk spent his life‘s work and all of his energy and time targeting out-groups while arguing for a world in which gun massacres would be easy to enact, plentiful, and inevitable, and he became famous and wealthy doing it, and we’re now not supposed to mention that because it’s not polite.

In no manner was Charlie Kirk a Great American. He was, basically, a trolling white supremacist, anti-LGBTQ college drop-out influencer who profited from division and hate.

This is one of the many, many reasons we should all condemn the celebration of political violence, as Kirk did here: You often don't get to decide when to dismount the tiger. It eats you first.

Charlie Kirk in 2023: "It’s worth to have a cost of, unfortunately, some gun deaths every single year so that we can have the Second Amendment."

I guess today was his turn to bleed so gun nuts can have their “rights”.

Republicans thought their gun obsession made them untouchable. Turns out, when you normalize violence and block recordkeeping, the bullets don’t check party ID. Right-wingers weren’t ready for their own rules to boomerang back.

If these assholes cared even one 10th as much for the lives of school children slaughtered by gun violence as they did for this young man with reprehensible views, I'd buy into their pretense. But they don't. And they never will.

I'm honestly terrified of what the right will use this as justification for. They're itching to engage in violence against their enemies and this will give them the excuse to do so. This is why political violence is never acceptable. It just descends into uncontrollable chaos and more violence.
