Soup season. First batch of the lemon chicken rice soup is on the stove. Except it’s lemon turkey rice this time, as we had a turkey (yes, an entire turkey) from last year Jenne cooked over the weekend.

Jenne bought some food pantry supplies for drop off tomorrow. I went and bought more stuff today. I still feel completely helpless about the state of things.

Doing 6 1/2 to 7 acres an hour pulling a chisel plow. This feels very boring and slow although it’s not much slower than when we combine the field. There’s more going on when you combine so it’s more exciting.

110 acres of corn left to harvest, but all of our farm storage is full and the one truck driver we have is busy hauling other corn. The other trucker who told me he could ‘work us in’ has ghosted me for the 2nd time. So I’m in this machine today doing some fall tillage.

My brother came up today to run the grain cart. I combined, mom and dad hauled. Finished the big field we started on Saturday. Record yield for that farm. Had a seed salesman in the combine with me in the morning. Felt like a Big Time Operator. 🤣

It’s weird farming in a very urbanized area where farming is barely a thing and then driving 20 miles west to home out in farm country where everyone works until midnight and grain semis drive by my house at all hours. But I don’t mind being home by 6pm 😆
