Yep. I posted this earlier today along similar lines. It's not enough to push against AI if we aren't pushing for healthier research environments. One of my first thoughts after quitting my PhD this year was "finally I'll have time to really close-read all the material I was trying to write about".
Fully agree with 'only cite stuff you've actually read' re: AI in academia, but it needs to be paired with 'give folk proper time to read & reflect'. The pressure to read/write/produce can drive shortcuts. Primarily thinking students here, but also academics, who need proper (paid) research leave.

🫂 Will you have much opportunity for some downtime today?

I adored the Worst Witch books when I was young.

Legit. As an older teen I was roped into helping with the Xmas Eve late night shop at the Barras market. Getting home after midnight, helping to wrap, and maybe getting a few hours shut-eye before the chaos descended! 🤣 (I could feel my anxiety spike at my emails today, so thanks for this reminder!)

The big name artists might not notice the difference, but I listen to quite a lot of smaller artists from around the world and there's something a wee bit grubby there about prioritising my ease over their income. So hopefully I'm rectifying that a bit now. Better late than never, right.

So far I'm having exactly the same experience on Tidal as I had before. All of my playlists transferred across easily, with only a v.small handful of tracks missing (one Indian artist, and a Japanese artist, and I do have the physical versions of both). So I'm pretty impressed so far!

A few artists I follow did an interesting *unwrapped* comparison of what they earned on one platform and what they'd get on Tidal for the same number of streams. That's what finally pushed me to make the shift. It's a shame that musicians have to put in that extra labour, but I'm grateful for it.

Oh FFS.

My poor stupid brain has been trying to read this to the tune of Dean Martin singing 'That's Amore', and failing miserably. 🤦🏻‍♀️🤣

Beautiful shot.

Alas, yes. Absolutely.

Urgh. That's rubbish. I'm really sorry - never a good time for it, but particularly not great now.

This is beautiful!

Same here.

I completely agree.

This sounds like a contradiction, but it *is* possible to hold multiple truths congruently. To make a distinction from how you feel personally and politically, but also hold compassionate and curious space for folks' reality. And to be able to communicate that honestly in the moment. (4)

And I want to work *with* folk, to find a balance, and to continue to develop and trust their internal resources. And all of that only happens, if folk feel able to tell you that they're using these tools, without judgement. There has to be an openness and curiosity there. (3)

I want to know what folk feel they're getting from it that they aren't finding elsewhere - and that will be slightly different for each individual. Generalisations won't work here. Importantly, I want to know what it's 'telling' them, so we can monitor and reality test it if needed. (2)
