I don't follow many folk, but I do use lists A Lot. I often add followers to lists I've created & keep all lists pinned to my home tab. I also use a 'followers' feed (also pinned) for folk that don't fit lists.

This gives me the best chance to see your posts & engage without feeling overwhelmed. 💜

This is written in the context of the US, but honestly it feels relevant in a UK context too, with increasing fascism on multiple fronts. I resonated with so much of what the author describes here.

I'm giving away this signed 1st edition h/b of my new novel (it has a tiny jacket rip which means I wouldn't sell it) to one person who reposts this.

You might like it if you like:
Folkloric creatures
Old records
Intricate psychedelic stories
The idea of circular time

All shares much-appreciated.

Aaaw, I'm sorry to hear that. 💜

I know we all know this, but the language the BBC use about Palestine is infuriating! 6Music news just referenced 7th Oct as having "sparked the war in Gaza", & a minute later described the "subsequent war", as though nothing at all was happening prior to that. 🙄🤬 And they *know* they're doing it.

That's how it's been for me. Got covid for first time in August, and have felt that lingering 'coming down with something' ever since. It feels like it stepped up a notch this week, so might actually be being a proper cold this week, but also still not *quite*. It's exhausting.

I really hear this. It's been bad in my local area as well, and it's daunting choosing to be visible when you know you could easily run into these folk on the street anytime. Sending solidarity. 💜

Our wee ‘Shelf Care’ Silent Book Club has been running for over 3 months already! Time flies when you have a good book and a cosy chair! Here’s what we were reading at our last meet-up on Tuesday 30th September! 💜

Text at bottom of image identifies background image used and that it was taken by me (@Coruscate_C). Six book covers surround the centre text block, with book names and authors underneath each. The book covers are The House of the Spirits by Isabel Allende, Lallan Sweets by Srishti Chaudhary, Hail Mary by Andy Weir, Shuggie Bain by Douglas Stuart, A Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter M. Miller Jr, and The Needfire by MK Hardy.

I've never seen the Godfather films either. Not enough spaceships to lure me in! 🤣

Six weeks ago, I picked up a year-old tawny owl with a broken leg off the main road near our home and dropped him off at our nearest vet.

After a few days, I received one of the most bizarre phone calls I’ve ever had, asking “So when are you coming to pick up your owl?” 🧵

Uk government reached the “harassing lawyers who win cases against us” stage of opression.

Solidarity with the Jewish community, especially in Manchester. The murder of two people at worship on the holiest day of the Jewish year is beyond reprehensible.

Today is National Poetry Day in the UK, so I'm sharing this by @mosababutoha.bsky.social - a Palestinian poet who writes of his experiences growing up in Gaza. This is from his collection "Things You May Find Hidden In My Ear". (Full text is in alt text if image is hard to read) #NationalPoetryDay
A poem from the collection: 'Things You May Find Hidden In My Ear' by Mosab Abu Toha

"Leaving Childhood Behind"

When I left, I left my childhood in the drawer
and on the kitchen table. I left my toy horse
in its plastic bag.
I left without looking at the clock.
I forget whether it was noon or evening.

Our horse spent the night alone,
no water, no grains for dinner.
It must have thought we'd left to cook a meal
for late guests or to make a cake
for my sister's tenth birthday.

I walked with my sister, down our road with no end.
We sang a birthday song.
The warplanes echoed across the heavens.

My tired parents walked behind,
my father clutching to his chest
the keys to our house and to the stable.

We arrived at a rescue station.
News of the airstrikes roared on the radio.
I hated death, but I hated life, too,
when we had to walk to our drawn-out death,
reciting our never-ending ode.

The 'likes' are for solidarity and agreement. Getting covid three times in quick succession after avoiding it so long sounds... exhausting. 💜
coruscate.bsky.social
It's been a month now since I got covid for the first time (that I know of) and I genuinely haven't felt properly 'better' yet. I just constantly feel 'a wee bit under the weather' or like I'm 'coming down with something', but it doesn't actually progress into anything. 🙄

Honestly, I would love it if our govt were 'inciting the radical left'. Believing we might actually have support to turn things around properly would be so much better than this naggingly hopeless feeling of pushing against a really heavy door.

Even if you don't believe you have rights, as I didn't believe I did for many years: if you can't trust the therapist, then you can't build a therapeutic relationship and therapy is a waste of time

Safety Advice:

I keep seeing young trans people on social media talking about therapists disrespecting their pronouns and parents telling them that the therapist has a right to their beliefs.

I want to be clear: you have a right to the therapy room being a safe supportive space for YOUR growth.
coruscate.bsky.social
If your therapist is harming you in ANY way, please STOP (if you are able).

Therapy should be a collaboration, where you tell us when we're getting it wrong, because we will get things wrong sometimes.

But even 'good' therapists are capable of doing harm, and the impact can be devastating.
