I don't follow many folk, but I do use lists A Lot. I often add followers to lists I've created & keep all lists pinned to my home tab. I also use a 'followers' feed (also pinned) for folk that don't fit lists.

This gives me the best chance to see your posts & engage without feeling overwhelmed. 💜
Fully agree with 'only cite stuff you've actually read' re: AI in academia, but it needs to be paired with 'give folk proper time to read & reflect'. The pressure to read/write/produce can drive shortcuts. Primarily thinking students here, but also academics, who need proper (paid) research leave.

I'm a bit embarrassed at how long it's taken me to switch from Spotify to Tidal, I think because I've long had a practice of buying physical versions of repeat listens. But I *do* still stream stuff I own physically, & folk should be paid properly for their work.

Personally, I choose not to use GenAI/ChatGPT & variants for ethical and environmental reasons. In my personal life I do judge folk who use it casually.

BUT, in my therapy work I hold a far more neutral position on folk using it, and I think it's important to be clear on why. (1)

anyone got any advice on the following situation? I wrote and did a big chunk of the admin for a large MRC grant which also also awarded. I am named in the Staff breakdown on the grant as "researcher co-lead" with 100%FTE, and I am mentioned by name as "postdoctoral researcher Maria Niedernhuber"

Recently at a Q&A, the chair asked me an excellent question: Why do you push so hard against the idea of a ‘nature cure’ when moments in your book Drystone - A Life Rebuilt might look like exactly that?

The answer is simple.

Reform are holding their conference on my doorstep this weekend, under the guise of 'ease of parking', but the reality is that Falkirk has been ripe for Reform influence for years. This last year of Cladhan Hotel protests is just it being more visible. We need support here to help push back.
By no coincidence, Farage and reform are coming to Falkirk on the 6th of December for their Scottish Assembly. On the same day local organisations and unions have organised a unity march and rally 😏

Honestly, this.

We aren't limited to two separate choices here. It isn't one or the other. He gets to be both. Two things get to be true: he was racist then, he is racist now.

What actually matters is what are we going to do about it *now*.
really getting fed up with the Farage's Schoolboy Racism stuff - he is still that racist, he's just slightly polite about it, and that current racism is a million times more dangerous but the media refuse to call it out

This is such a joyful thread. Worth saving for whenever you need a shot of wonder to counter all the horror. 💜

- bluefin tuna jumping in Cornwall
- salmon jumping in NE England

Last chance for shipping next week!

I was diagnosed with #HIV in 1998, when I was 30.
Many of my friends had died of AIDS. I did not expect to live to 50.
I’m 58 now.
HIV treatment works.
Treatment also makes it impossible for me to pass HIV on during sex.
Ensure HIV treatment for all.
End HIV stigma.

Hoping some historians can help me.

Are there any primary sources from the founding fathers who were openly anti slavery justifying the 3/5 clause?

I’m interested in seeing how they personally, if at all, they considered it temporary or a lesser of two evil.

"We make our own sacred spaces — spaces on no maps — through repeated rituals of resistance whose meanings stretch beyond borders. Because our “grief knows no borders.”"

How is this not the top story on every news bulletin?
This has been happening for years and instead of doing anything to protect children successive governments have made the situation worse. This isn't just on councils. It is part of failings on a State level.
