It's been nearly six weeks since the #Dieselgate trial began. This week, the High Court was told that about a million Ford diesel cars were sold in the UK with defective emissions controls. Many of those cars were never formally recalled or fixed; we are long overdue a manufacturer-funded recall.

"Even a new wood stove today could be affected by further tightening of regulations in 10–15 years. This makes the investment riskier – especially since retrofitting is often more expensive than buying new and doesn't always help with older models emissions"

For many carcinogens and toxins, burning dry wood in “Ecodesign” stoves (which the stove industry recommend) is worse than burning dry wood on open fires, eg. Benzene, 13-butadiene, Carbon Monoxide, Non methane VOC, Benzo[a]pyrene, Benzo[b]flouranthene, benzo[k]flouranthene, Dioxins, Flouranthene.

Children know that it is stinky and unpleasant. It should be a child's right to not be exposed to the level of chemicals that wood stoves put into the air.
It’s been known for a long time that wood smoke is similar to cigarette smoke and that it harms children. The study this quote is taken from, for instance, was published in 1993. (It found that fine particle pollution from wood burning makes breathing more difficult for young asthmatic children.)
