We've already largely substituted the physical acts of watching a film or video, reading a book, or making music with screen interactions - often of lower quality. One file experience is much like another, and it's a small step from that to AI supplying the file content.

It's the same mindset that makes people furious when the driver in front isn't driving as fast as the driver behind would like. Makes no sense.

There's always poor folks, but many in my parents' generation had relatively cheap education, followed by secure jobs with good benefits. If they didn't get divorced or sick, they did very well by the rise in real incomes through the 60s and (to a lesser extent) in the 70s.

I tried Linux in the early 2000s, and it was a not a happy experience. Tried again last year and now happily run a couple of older machines on it.
