He's concerned about $1.8 million for crisis workers, but wants to use police instead, who cost at least $200k each (and often well over $300k each)???

When major renovations at Toronto’s St. Michael’s Hospital were announced, it was supposed to turn the facility into “the premier critical care hospital in Canada.”

Instead, the project is now 7 years late and two key figures were convicted of fraud today. www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/artic...

Private conservative club for the wealthy claims it can’t find any Canadian “servers”.

This means:

- the wages are crap and below comparable server jobs;

- the servers are treated like crap by the “members”;

- the club is lying.

Which is it?

or differences and to those ends the Minister may refer any question to the Board or direct the Board to do such things as the Minister deems necessary.

S.107 reads: The Minister, where the Minister deems it expedient, may do such things as to the Minister seem likely to maintain or secure industrial peace and to promote conditions favourable to the settlement of industrial disputes 1/2

I say "clearly," but I'm not a lawyer. I do know that case law makes it pretty clear that workers who are stripped of their right to strike (e.g. hospital workers) have to have access to a third-party dispute resolution mechanism like interest arbitration. S.107 has no such requirement.

For those wanting to track which MPs truly care about workers and their rights, you can start following Bill C-247, which would remove s.107 of the Canada Labour Code, which the Liberals have been using repeatedly to strip the right to strike in a way that is pretty clearly unconstitutional.

Wathing the HoC proceedings and remembering why I don't always (there's no real debate). But "Solutions Not Slogans" might be the best response I've heard to the Conservatives.

Today is difficult for so many survivors. If you need support today the 24 Hour Residential School Crisis Line is 1-866-925-4419

It's also an opportunity for MPs to talk about what they're doing to further the 94 calls to action (of which only 14 have been realized) and how they're applying #57 to themselves and their staff.

After 10 years, only 14 calls to action have been realized. At this rate, APTN reports, it will be the 2080s before the list is completed. "At this rate, how many residential school survivors will be alive to see reconciliation?"

With September 30 marking National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, APTN News looks at how many of the 94 Calls to Action have been answered since the Truth and Reconciliation Commission delivered its final report in 2015.

To be clear, I'm not looking to call out people who aren't, but to learn from those who are and maybe stimulate discussions in the workplaces of those who are not yet. Looking for educational and active rather than performative, though.

Today I'd like to hear from #Canadian #politicians and their staff about whether they see Call to Action #57 to include political staff and some of the things they are doing in their workplaces to further it.
