If you use GMail, AI (Gemini) was turned on yesterday by default and now scans all of your content for machine learning. To turn off, go to Settings>General and scroll down. Uncheck the box for "Smart features."

Ontario's #PSE funding is worse than in any other province. And the public is realizing the reality will hurt our economy, with 71% seeing the situation as at least moderately urgent.

Listening to public speaking against cuts to #Whitby Public #Library. Reminds me of how much libraries have meant to me, as a child, student and parent. And how, as an author during rough times the #Milton library meant warmth, wifi and a place to work so I could pay my rent. Life transforming.

Toronto city council expecting that the newly privatized recycling collection mandated by the Ford government is going to be "a rough ride."
Jumping back to the blue bins, Councillor Fletcher passes a motion asking the new company collecting recycling provide some extra trucks to handle the extra cardboard & such produced over the holidays.

Toronto is increasingly becoming a city of renters, so these kinds of changes would have an outsized impact here versus other municipalities across the province. The mayor has also premised much of her political strategy since 2023 on winning support from renters.
