My buddy Porter was obsessed with doors and our living room ceiling fan was his white whale. Mainly the dangling pull chain. One magical day he came close to fulfilling a lifelong dream.
(We would occasionally pick him up and hold him up so he could bat at it. I spoiled him terribly. No regrets.)

This is my buddy Porter. We were together for 13 years and we understood each other. He’s been gone for a couple years and I’ve never been able to bear writing about him. I loved that little guy and I miss him every day.
