There are some comestibles that aren’t necessarily better or worse than similar ones, but the ones that taste _like we expect them to_ have staying power.

I cannot wrap my head around the let's strategy of conceding that the right is correct about everything and offering a more tepid version of it.

Again, the big feature of modern capitalism/mercantilism is that The User Is Not The Customer. The customer is the one who's buying the service, and *they* are the one who has to be satisfied with the result. If the user (or the viewer, or the reader) has a less-satisfying experience, well, too bad!
