I've been playing Star Citizen recently and that game is incredibly memory heavy; I am genuinely limited in performance via my AM4's 5800X3D setup due to the fact that the L3 cache just isn't large enough to mitigate the RAM bandwidth requirements that game needs.

Unified RAM is getting faster and faster than dual-channel DDR5 setups, and people are gonna notice.
AMD is rumoured to release a 9950X3D2 chip (Where both CCD's get their own V3D L3 cache), showing that they know DDR5 is about to show its age.

On the PC side, you would need a system that makes use of fast LPDDR5X dies (Still doesn't come close) or make use of quad-channel or octa-channel DDR5 setups, which the latter is reserved for HEDT systems like Threadripper or Threadripper Pro.

I've been working for a better future when the present was always here, obscured by the sacrifices of the past to comfort conceptualised anxieties.

I committed most of 2025 reflecting on myself and working on projects like my renderer.
And it's not like it's been for nothing; it's incredibly educational, I feel more knowledgeable and somewhat more equipped for the future, but I think I've there's something crucial I forgot about myself.

Once I released Second Embrace in 2023, music took a hard stop in my life because I felt like I couldn't justify spending the time on it anymore.
I felt like I had other responsibilities which were taking hold; I spend time on one thing, I miss time on other things.
Fuck, life is so limited man

…But there are also other ways.
I could simulate the ray passing through by taking the input angle, calculating against the shape of the primitive for the exit point, then calculate the output angle.
That might be a nice, performant workaround.

Filtering is something I'd be happy to invest more time in once the fundamentals are taken care of :)
