A US citizen has apparently been shot by ICE agents in Minneapolis. I’m gathering information, but the situation on the ground is volatile.

ICE should leave now for everyone’s safety.

ICE shot a legal observer in the face in Minneapolis. Abolish ICE and prosecute every single one of their deputized terrorists.

For the first time in my life I have a collection of completed work that I actually like, ready to send out into the world. I'm no longer buried in disparate drafts, partial fragments, or loathed ideas. Going into 2026 with optimistic (but realistic) feelings towards my output!

Thread of (just some) of the shorter writer I really loved this year:

Essays, poetry, short fiction, whatever. No particular rhyme or reason, just things I liked!

this season of STRANGER THINGS is frustrating because the bandwagoned hate is ridiculously hyperbolic but it's still flawed enough –– IE, a redundant pattern of bad plans, poor dialogue, heart to hearts, and so-so action –– it's not worth defending what it does well either

I'm two years in drawing the same person for secret santa. This year, she also drew me. In future years, it will devolve into a 1 on 1 showdown, the family gathered around to witness us engage in a highly obfuscated duel of gifting.

I am reading that New Yorker profile of Curtis Yarvin and I cannot overemphasize how much he is a stupid person's idea of what a smart person sounds like. I resent having to know who this man is. I wish to wipe him from my memory.

I entered a supermarket last week in Northern Europe that was trialing an AI assistant on those self hand scanning things you carry around. Apparently it recommends accompanying items based on what you'd already scanned. Deranged corporate mindrot stuff
Every company: “Hi! I’m the new Virtual Assistant! As me anything!”

Every consumer: “I’d rather be on fire.”

This reminds me: the last few months I've been revisiting a lot of late 90s and early 2000s MMO stuff. Runescape, Everquest, Ultima etc. It's been such a rich nostalgic experience, and become very clear there's a magic to older games that is rarely itched nowadays.
Everybody has a favorite 1990s RPG. Forget your first round draft picks, though; it’s time to remember the RPGs that hardly ever make any GOAT lists. Here are our favorite cult classic RPGs from the '90s. www.pastemagazine.com/games/rpgs/b...

A new Pynchon, a new PTA-Pynchon, a new Pope, a new country I'm living in, and a new citizenship. For all it's horrible facets, 2025 is shaping up to be a really interesting year personally. I just need to actually get on top of writing 😅
