it's the other way around. the "egg prime directive" bullshit legitimizes the idea that you can "catch" transness, and thus implies that the "vulnerable" should not be exposed to its existence. egg prime directive is literally Don't Say Gay, Don't Ask Don't Tell, school library book bans, etc

anyway the process is so old and predictable by now:
1) A new archetype for Safe Male is created
2) A bunch of guys who mean well, or think they mean well, embrace it
