I think both. In our experience, researchers are keen to see Trust Markers added to their ORCID records by the organizations they've granted permission to. But adoption will inevitably take time...

@marianveneral.bsky.social We believe it would be dangerous for any one organization to have a monopoly on deciding who is trustworthy in research. That's why Community Trust Network brings together Trust Markers from our broad set of member organizations. You can read more at shorturl.at/G6naw

In fact our biggest supporters are our 30 national and regional consortia, which for-profit corporations are not allowed to participate in.

I am saying they are not one of our biggest funders. Just one of the 1,477 organizations that support us (all of which we are very grateful to)

@aarontay.bsky.social Did you know that >6,400 systems around the scholarly ecosystem are now integrated with ORCID? I don't think any other scholarly profile system can claim that. More ORCID facts and figures at info.orcid.org/resources/or...

@samuelmoore.org This is a misconception. We are financially supported by our >1,400 organizational members, over 75% of which are universities and research institutions, contributing almost 70% of our funding. The rest comes from a broad set of stakeholders. See info.orcid.org/resources/or...

DataCite auto-updating my ORCID record has to be the chef's kiss.
A screenshot. At the top, there is a purple header with the name "Rohini Lakshané" and an ORCID identifier (0000-0003-0205) along with the website "orcid.org."

Below the header, there is a white box containing the title of a publication: "Challenging Gendered Disinformation from India's Manosphere Requires Systemic Change." The publication is attributed to GenderIT.org, dated 2025-07-11, and categorized as "Other." It includes a DOI (10.5281/zenodo.16451698) and lists Rohini Lakshané as the contributor. A "Show more detail" link is present, indicating additional information is available.

At the bottom, there is a section labeled "Source: DataCite," marked with a green checkmark, indicating it is the preferred source among two options.
