Actor, teacher, writer and life-long Cubs fan. Have been following Cubs minor league prospects since long before the internet.
With the Maple Leafs losing game 7, it is now set.

The #Blackhawks draft picks in the 1st round will be 3 and 25.

Their first of two 2nd round picks is set at 34. Their second 2nd round pick (from the Dallas Stars) will either be 62, 63 or 64 depending on where Dallas finishes in the playoffs.

You could be right, but I don't think that's very likely. The Cubs front office's purpose in life is to produce/acquire really good, young, inexpensive, controllable players.

Ballesteros isn't positionless. He's just not fully ready to be a major league catcher. He's got time before Kelly leaves..
I think it's more likely that they trade Ballesteros. He has no position but a lot of value because of his bat, and they'd be selling high.

In his last 2 starts, Sanders has pitched:

11 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 0 BB and 14 K.

That's good, right?
If we weren’t talking about Will Sanders before tonight, we sure are now:

6 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 0 BB, 7 K
We should be talking more about Will Sanders and his performance in Double-A:

33.1 IP, 2.70 ERA, 1.14 WHIP
24.1 K%, 6.0 BB%
16.3 SwStr%, 30.6 CSW%

If Moises Ballesteros proves he can hit major league pitching well enough, the Cubs will have an interesting opportunity.

They could be a playoff quality team approaching the trade deadline looking to sell. Well, one player at least.

Some things have to go right in order to get there, but...

The Cubs have a few young players, many still just promising prospects, that should be impactful players for several years.

PCA, Cade Horton, Moises Ballesteros and Matt Shaw have already seen the majors and will likely form their young core.

The system seriously thins out after that, however.

I am becoming increasingly disappointed with the Cubs ability to scout and develop prospects. Something needs to change. They need to get better. Much better. Or this recent success at the big league level won't last very long.

14 wins in the first 25 games?

I thought this was supposed to be the tough part of the Cubs schedule...

Obviously, something has changed with the Chicago Bulls

Since the All-Star break (Feb. 20) the Bulls record is 15-10. Over the course of a full season, that would be a record of 49-33.

Prior to the All-Star break, the Bulls record was 22-33. Over 82 games that would be the exact opposite, 33-49.

A fitting tribute. I endorse this proposal 100%.
In memory of the legendary Bob Uecker, let's rename the Mendoza Line the Uecker Line—a nod to the man who turned self-deprecating humor and a love of baseball into an art form. RIP, Mr. Baseball.

Rumors have 3B Cam Smith (2024's 1st round selection for the Cubs) being included in the possible deal for Kyle Tucker.

Any deal for Tucker, even for just 1 year of his services, is going to hurt, but giving up 6-years of Cam Smith would definitely sting.

Cubs must think Matt Shaw can play 3B...

With 2B/3B Matt Shaw (23), 3B Cam Smith (21), 2B James Triantos (21) and SS Jefferson Rojas (19) all top 100 prospects per MLB, the future of the Cubs infield looks solid.

Plus, the next wave has infielders Fernando Cruz (18), Cristian Hernandez (20), Angel Cepeda (18) and Pedro Ramirez (20).

With the trade of Alfonsin Rosario, MLB.com has added SS/3B Yahil Melendez to their list of Cubs Top 30 Prospects.

Melendez is just 19 years old bringing the total of 20U infield prospects to 9.

SS Jefferson Rojas (19)
SS Fernando Cruz (18)
2B/3B Pedro Ramirez (20)
SS Cristian Hernandez (20)
