New article: my response to Peter Katz's connection of karate, self-defence & fascism. In my response, I connect fascism to Donald Trump (quelle surprise!), masculine BS, the film 'Nobody' & 'A History of Violence', among a few other things.

Do we want sport pundits to be objective? (spoiler alert- yes!)

Following the chaos at the Ryder Cup, I’ve written a piece on sports coverage and impartiality.
This Is My truth, Tell Me Scores.
From Tommy Roy’s Ryder Cup rallying cry to Sky’s obsession with the Big Six, modern punditry is as much about allegiance as analysis.

It is probably a rash decision, but I've written about why the BBC - and especially BBC News - isn't all bad.

And now, I'd best retreat to my bunker.

The damned BBC - annoying, wrong headed, essential
It is the worst media and news service, except for all the others

Last week I had the privilege of presenting at the VOX-Pol Next Generation conference in Prague.

It was an inspiring experience that captured what being an early career researcher should be about: support, collaboration, & enthusiasm for each other’s work.

At the Lib Dem conference, Sir Ed Davey accused the BBC of giving Nigel Farage and Reform UK too much uncritical airtime — going so far as to say its coverage sometimes looks like “copy and paste” from party press releases.
