I see pieces like this a lot, often w/ a spin of lamenting cultural degeneration, but reading is a LABOR issue, it’s declined because so many people are working overtime or two jobs & employers expect after hours work. France has Earth’s highest reading rate b/c long lunch breaks & labor protections

It was the early 90s and I was living on Capitol Hill in Seattle, where all of us gays and lesbians lived back then, before Amazon moved in and made it totally unaffordable. There were lots of gay and lesbian establishments within stumbling distance of my tiny studio, overlooking the Space Needle, along the Pike-Pine corridor. There was a gay dance club called Neighbours, a lesbian bar called The Wildrose, a cool lesbian dance club called The Easy, a leather bear bar called The Cuff, and... as I would soon learn, Espresso Vivace - the lesbian (and gay) mecca of coffee shops.

very true, though i will say that transitioning puts an *incredible* strain on a relationship, to the point that amonst the 100's of other trans folks i have met, i can count on one hand how many relationships i have seen remain intact 5 years after starting transition-and all of those intact relationships changed substantially (because ofc they did, they had to!)

That's why only soulmate connections stay together! You don't meet your soulmate every lifetime, but when you do, the connection is so strong that it does not matter what gender or how they look or anything; all that matters is if you're with them.

i just watched a 1m video about ASML and i am astonished that we’re even able to make computer chips with this level of precision. i really did not know that the last 25 years produced this technology and that its why i no longer see articles about how we’re bumping into the limits of Moore’s Law
